I received a Buck 501 Squire for Christmas this year, and just recently I noticed that the spring sinks in a bit on the pivot end and sticks up a bit on the back end when the knife is closed. Is this normal for this model, or should I send her back to be looked at?

a pic would help to see how much we're talking about-but I think is should be pretty flush all the way when closed.

I just checked out nine of them that I have and of those, two have a tiny bit of what you are talking about, but only when closed.

we sand the blade and back with the blade open in 1 motion, so there will be a mismatch at times when closed in the areas you describe.

My one has a little bit of what you described.....
Never really noticed it and do not consider it a problem.
J Hubbard's explanation makes sense to me.

J Hubbard,

Thank you for the explanation. It definitely makes sense since it's perfectly flat when it's open. Is this just a cosmetic issue, or is it something that will become more pronounced with time?
