Question about a Case Trapper

I recently saw a case trapper with black micarta handles not sure of the blade material appeared to be carbon but may have been stainless. I know it was not that shiny, mirror stainless I've seen on most of the case knives at the stores I frequent. My question is does the black micarta handle fade or wear/dull over time? My second question is does anyone know the possible steel material of this knife, I remember seeing 4#'s and a SS near the bottom of the blade by the handle. I do not own any case knives and this one may be the one I get. I asked the guy at the store if it was a carbon knife and he said yes but the SS I mentioned made me think other wise.

I suspect it was one of the new ones out that is made with G10 instead of micarta. If I am thinking right, they don't have a highly polished blade finish. If it is G10, it will wear well and last a long time.

Thanks for the relpy SharpFella. The blade was not polished. Sweet knife I'll probably get it, I just don't want the black handle to fade. I've not had a G10 or micarta handle before.

It could be SS with G10. I know Case makes the Peanut in that config. I highly recommend bone handle and Case's CV blade. Either way you can't lose.

God Bless

Im pretty sure the handle material is g10. Any case knife with g10 handles will have stainless blades. I own a case stockman with g10 handles and stainless blades and is is the best knife i own.

Yes, sounds like the black G-10 handled Trapper, which has the Case stainless steel blades. Unlike most Case knives, the blades are not mirror pollished, but have a sort of brushed finish.
