Is 95.00 a reasonable price for a nice hand made knife with A-2 steel?

I know I am being vague, just curious... (again, Im new-ish) :)

Depends on the size, folder or fixed, tang, and some other stuff to consider, such as fit and finish.

Good answer from YILP.
Add to that the maker, their skill level and time. Off hand that price might be a tad low if you are looking at a bowie size knife since prices usually start at about 125 for a hunter/skinner size and 225 to 250 for a larger knife. Of course they can go much higher.

Of course there are exceptions to that depending upon the maker.

This is a smaller knife looks to about a 4+ inch blade. Fixed. With sheath.

I know Im not give enough info. :(

Ive gone through about 2 years of posts on the knifemakers sales board. Man, some GORGEOUS knives out there!

Again, lame question I know... but thank you for the answers.

Actually not a lame question at all, I bet a lot of folks who maybe have not considered a custom knife or been exposed to them might learn something. We are indeed fortunate to have quite a group of talented makers on this board and in general in the knife community and it is a good thing when we can support them.

Well if it helps. I’ve paid around that for a 4 inch production fixed blade.

Bottom line though, if you like the knife. Buy it.

The handmade term is difficult to nail down. Some factory knives are considered handmade by many people. For example the Bark River kinves are laser blanked and finished by hand. Does that make them hand made? At any rate, BRKT makes some nice knives in A2 that are in that price range.

Not all knives made out of the same steel will be equal, high customer satisfaction is a good indicator. Much of the skill is hidden in the art of heat treating.

Well that has a little to do with it. I would like to support a "small time" player. You know?

Assuming that your knife has good fit and finish, and was heat treated correctly, I'd say that you got a pretty good deal.
