Question about a finish on leather sheath

I have a picture of the sheath (left) I made a few days ago, well it cracked so I made another one (right) both with same brown dye, I just did not go overboard on the new one. I took some high grit sandpaper to it give a little worn look and I really like how it came out, yet to stitch it. So my question is do I need to put a leather finish on it like the Satin Shene that I have been using? I don't want to effect the look of it at all, but the dye seems to "bleed" I think is the term like if my hands are a little damp it runs on to my skin, I don't want that. Can I add something like mink oil to kind of seal the dye up without putting a sheen to it?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, and not worded very well, in a hurry running late to work :D

That chromatic look (the bluish tint) means there is dye still on the surface and that will always rub off.

Acrylic sealers will still rub the stuff around and make swirls or lines depending on how you brush it on.

Waxes will pick the pigment that is on the surface up, and the buffing will take it away on your cloth.

The effect you have is simple and permanent with an antique or hi lighter type stain. It takes some practice but the effects are very nice. One thing with the antiques is they show every imperfection in the leather, which can be bad and/or good depending on the effect you want.
