Question about a minor modification

I live on Vancouver Island, here in British Columbia. The 124 has quickly become an absolute favorite blade of mine for all around use in this temperate rain forest. (I actually ended up buying a second!).

With that said, I really love the looks of polished micarta, but not the function. When wet, it becomes very slippery.

My question is this. Would it affect the warranty in any way should I take some 400 grit sand paper, and very carefully give the micarta a hand rubbed satin? I have finished a bunch of other micarta handles in this manor before, and it has yielded wonderful results. When finished like this, the micarta slightly absorbs water and becomes very grippy, instead of becoming slick.

Thanks in advance for any help, opinions or advice!

Here's a pic of my main 124...

I doubt Buck would care. The 124 is a handsome knife, built for heavy duty. Did you make the sheath? Welcome, DM

I like that model with the micarta handle as well, for camp duty and processing. Buck has made it for many years and in different steels. Glad you visited us. DM

UPDATE!

I very carefully taped off my 124 last night, and spent a good hour hand sanding the micarta under running water (to stop any dust from becoming airborne), and here are the results.

I am very happy with how it turned out. Much grippier when wet, and is very pleasantly soft to the touch.

Congrats! I like it and I think it was the right thing to do, it's a tool. Can't speak for Buck but I don't see how you taking the finish off the handle will impact the warranty (in the off chance you need it). Enjoy!

Think I need to look about doing mine also now.
