I forgot my questions. I think its from WW2?? It has the inscription "Jerry" on it. What does that mean? I have been told its a Randall Hunter with a Clarence Moore sheath. What do you guys think?
I believe that this is the same knife that Barry Lee Hands introduced to the Knife Network folks in February of 2012:
It's the earliest WWII Hunter that anyone has ever seen due to it's wrist thong link. At that time I stated I believed the sheath was by Clarence Moore. Sometimes it's difficult to tell for sure unless one has the sheath in hand. I assume there is no Heiser stamp - correct?
The Randall shop would etch a name on the backside of the blade if requested even during WWII. Usually it was both first name and surname. The marking "Jerry" could have been by the shop or some other means after delivery.
I'd love to hear Sheldon's or other opinions on this forum. Thanks for sharing!
I only knew that it was rare, early for the design, and period correct. Barry lives up here in my neighborhood. If it is indeed his knife, and he still has it, and is willing to show it, it might be worth my effort to try to get in touch with him...
