this is my first post on these forums, i usually just watch an learn.I recently pick up a basic 3 on ebay, it has not arrived yet.I interested in a satin jack, my question is does this knife come with a sheath and where would be the best place to pick one up. any other comments about this knife are welcome. before watching some of the knife forums i used to think buck, sog were the top of the line knives and they are for what they are. they do not compare to mission, maddog, busse, reeves. I learned an awful lot already. sorry to ramble. thanks alot mark

Mark,
Welcome to the Busse forum!! The CG SJ comes with a cordora nylon sheath with a kydex insert. The Satin Jack is a great knife. You can order them right from Busse. Busse Combat Knife Co.

Welcome! I'm glad you started posting. I hope you keep doing so :D

The SJ comes with a kydex-lined cordura sheath. Here's a pic of it:

David of Buy Brown sheathes and Eric of On/Scene tactical sheathes are great for after-market sheaths. Here are their websites:

brian, you have nice collection of busses, is there any difference b/t the basic 5 or 7 and the sj. I know the sj is a newer model and the basics have been discon. thanks mark

andrew, very nice looking knife,is it for sale, if i order from busse how long of a wait is it. since being on these forums i picked up several knives, have been sleeping in the dog house to, the wife is not very happy with me at all mark

Mark,
If you are talking to me, I am embarassed to say I've never
even held a Basic's. All I know is the Basics were made from
modified INFI and they had Resiprene sp? handles.
Maybe one of the more knowledgable Busse nuts can help you!!;)

Mark
Welcome to the Busse Forum, glad you stopped by.

I hope Andrew isn't selling that knife he posted a picture of, because I believe it is mine ;):D

The Satin Jack can be ordered directly from Busse Combat, it comes with the Kydex/Cordura sheath and I believe they have custom kydex at the shop that you can also order. They are shipping within 3-6 weeks of placing the order or a little sooner.

As far as the Basic 5, 7 or the SJ, my opinion is spend the little extra and get the SJ. The steels are slightly different, Mod-INFI for the Basics vs. INFI for the Combat Grade. The handles are different also Respirene C for the Basics vs. Micarta for the CG's.

Of course if you find a Basic 5, 7 selling cheap, I sure wouldn't pass it up. :D:D

Don't worry about sleeping in the Doghouse, I've been doing that a lot recently also ;):D

Mark,

The Basic series was great. A lot of people out there still have them and they hold up well. But unfortunately the 5 and 7 are few and far between on the market. You might have to wait a long time and pay a premium for them. Save yourself the frustration and buy the Satin Jack. If you decide it isn't the knife for you they are easily sold. I sold two this week, took no loss at all, and had between five to eight people interested in each. It is a safe investment and a great knife.

eric, you have some nice busses also, it looks like a lot of people sleep in the dog house here. I emailed mike the guy that andrew said may have a sj for sale, its probably sold its been a month now. I really hope i dont like these busses, the last time i liked something was the randalls at last count was b/t 70-80 knives. I still love my randalls, but its time to hold, play with some other knives. The person i bought the basic 3 from just emailed me, said its on the way. I cant wait to see these knives, really hope i dont like them mark

338,
If you want a SJ now, contact Phil DeVrives at 2thehilt.com. If you order one over the phone, you can get it in days.
Welcome to our humble "home" away from home,
Luke

My guess would be $227.00 plus some shipping.

I have bought a ZT Satin Jack from Phil, it was a smooth deal.

Chip, I'm the same way, only owned a basic 5 long enough to sell it;)

I like those one of a kind, Limited run, discontinued, Variant stuff too.(Oh, and Satin Jacks. I'm at 6 now, 3 or 4 on order);)
Can't wait to get the "Quad Jack":p
