Question about a sticking lockbar

Can someone describe what a sticking lockbar feels like. I have a large and a small classic Sebenza and the large one seems to stick a bit when disengaging. I hear a little metal noise when I push the lock bar as it moves across blade tang. When I close my small Sebe there seems to be no drag at all. These knives are both in new condition and have not been taken apart. Is this something I should send in for repair or is there some kind of break in process I need to go through? Am I just over reacting?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

a sticky lock probably feels exactly like what you are experiencing.

many liner and frame locks require a break in period whereby any burrs on the lock face or tang will be eventually ground off from the friction of the two parts.

ive owned many liner/frame locks, including several large and small sebbies. some needed breaking in, some didn't.

so long as the lock engagement is solid, there is nothing to be concerned over.

Thanks for your response. I'll keep using it and see if it will break in. The lockup is solid so I won't worry about it. Thanks again,

Matt

If you notice that your thumb starts to get sore..its a sticky lockbar. I sent mine in and it was less then 1 month old. Take it apart and see if there is any marks on the lockbar itself. Ie skuff marks in just 1 area which appear to be digging into the metal.

Thanks for your reply,

I cleaned it up a bit and have tried to break it in. It seems to be a bit smoother now. I'll give it a bit more time before I decide to send it in.

while the knife is closed use a no2 pencil and color in the tang where the lockbar is rubbing....seriously! This will lubricate the area and make it easier on your thumb to break in. I have a Strider SNG that was really sticky and this did the trick.
