question about adjustment

No. We don't make knives to order or customize knives after purchase. The cost to do so would be just about the same as a new knife, and this kind of work just doesn't fit in our processes.

That's one of the many reasons why his knives are so desirable, and why his business model works so well.
Andy and crew produce some of the finest handmade knives on the planet.

questionable...
bob loveless, Murray Carter and Phil Wilson has had/ doing very desirable knives and though does not change the model ( which I do not need) but allow their customers to choose handle material or pins. and you know their does not make worse from it.

It does not prevent you the knife maker from realizing his ideas and put it for sale

or let say you have you have a perfect knife that you love to death, let say hiking buddy, as you come with Idea to have matching bigger knife let say Duke - to make a set and be happy to death twice. you can wait for years that Andy would repeat a design in another model, but even if he did you may be not quick enough to push the button and tell "take it" then you will be disappointed to the rest of

Common confusion here. Fiddleback Forge is not a custom knife company. They are more of a....how do you say....hand made knife shop. :)

Plenty of info in this forum from Andy as to why he switched from taking orders for custom knives to being strictly a hand made knife shop. No reason to rehash it all.

I can't speak for the others, but Murray Carter doesn't do customs anymore either. He follows the same business model as Fiddleback Forge, i.e. handmade knives.

Whether or not another maker has been successful with custom options/order taking is irrelevant. We are horrible at it. Horrible. We loose customers over this. In addition it is not profitable, from experience. We make handmade knives. We don't make custom knives either before or after the sale.

Bob Loveless does not take custom orders anymore either.

I think the Andy and the FB do a hell of a job coming up with different twists on their offered models. Much better than anything I could think up.

I can see the frustration if you want matching sets are specific scale/steel configurations and don't want to jump through a lot of hoops buying and trading with no guarantee of getting exactly what you want - but such is life.

I'll admit, when I first noticed Andy's work, not being able to get/order the exact fiddleback you want when you want it was a hard pill to swallow. I mean let's be honest, who doesn't want a full on custom or a modified version of one of Andy's pieces? I think not being able to have his blades made to my specs has kept me around though. He designs knives way better than I ever could. Looking or I should say searching far and wide for that variant wearing the scales you want in the thickness and grind you want adds to the fun of collecting his work.

If it's still tough to understand, listen to the last song on the Rolling Stones album Let It Bleed, that helped me.

Also, because of the chanciness of getting the Fiddleback that you want, you get the opportunity to hang out here with the community and make friends!
