question about an old motor...

I've got an original old champion brand motor that's dual voltage, the thing's got the wiring diagram, and I've got it wired the way it's recomended for 230 volts, but the thing that bothers me is, there's no ground wire. I haven't tried to run the thing yet, I'd really like to get it grounded, I'm thinking I'll just run the incoming ground wire to one of the bolts that hold the motor to it's base, but I'd like to get oppinions about this before I fry myself.

In short (no pun intended) I'm asking, is it safe to ground the motor the way I described?

Thanks guys,
Tony

I was hoping that was the answer... the darn thing is crazy, 6 wires, all black, only little aluminum tags to identify them numerically 1-6, the wiring diagram (had to take some kind of varnish off just to read it) doesn't indicate what any of the wires are, just says "hook these wires together, and hook wire so and so to this for 230 volt operation"

Really hope this thing runs tomorrow..... bang bang bang GRIN :)
