Question about an older BM Stryker

When did BM change their logo from reading... BALI-SONG... inside the butterfly to reading... BENCHMADE... in the butterfly?
The Elishewitz Stryker that I've had for a while seems to be different in that the tanto grind is on the same side as the pocket clip. Has the BALI-SONG in the butterfly logo and BENCHMADE U.S.A. on that side also. The opposite side of the blade is the flat side with the ELISHEWITZ logo. This seems to be reversed compared to other Strykers I've seen.
Any info from the BM experts would be great.

Pictures speak a thousand words, even more so if you have questions about authenticity.

The Bali-song flipper was BKC's first product and following knives wore the logo inside the butterfly until it was changed to Benchmade in the middle 90's. And the knife as described sounds like a 910SGC, a very rare model with the grind on the right side of the blade compared to all other Strykers - and very hard to find now.

jkarp_53, yes it does look similar but mine has the coated blade and different markings, the right side with the grind has the butterfly and has the old style BALI-SONG written in it instead of BENCHMADE as yours does. And under the butterfly it says BENCHMADE and under that it says U.S.A.
The left side (flat side) of the blade says ELISHEWITZ, then under that Pat. #5,755,035. Yours says ELISHEWITZ with the word Design underneath.
Mine does not have the ATS 34 marking either.
The pocket clip has the BENCHMADE U.S.A. in smaller letters than yours.
And yes I really need to learn how to post photos. I'm sure it would help with identifying this knife. I thank you for your help though, I appreciate it.
This knife has no play in the lock up and I tightened up the pivot. Love it.

MCM, I just looked in the link to the catalogs you provided. In the 1998 MIL/LE catalog on page 4 it shows what looks like a mirror image of my 910 with the logos on the opposite side of the blade. Then I looked on page 8 and they list a 910SBT LH for $155.00. LH for left hand. Makes sense that it's harder to find info on this one because I'm sure they made fewer lefties than standard configuration.

I've got a lefty Stryker I carried for about 12 years till it literally came apart. Can someone tell me where I can find the dimensions of the standoffs used? I'd like to replaces the spacer, and scales, and I'm looking for some dimensions to get me started.

Thanks!

I have an old First Generation Stryker with a Black Prototype blade and it says "BALI-SONG" in the center of the Butterfly. It was a gift so it's impossible to date but I'd like to say from other pic's I've seen around 96-97?

The Stryker below it is a later model I got around 2005 and is 154CM steel. You can see the slight differences in both blade and handle design.

I have a Prototype and a first production older design Strykers that have the same logo as the top knife. Both are also chisel ground. I also have few later models (early 2000's) that have the newer logo and scale design. The newer g-10 scales seem to have a more 'plastic' type feel to them, sort of like the older scales have 'drier' feel to them (if that makes any sense).

You are right, there is definitely a different feel to the earlier model. Even though ever so slight. More solid to me if that makes sense. But the later version feels like it has more traction or better grip. Either way both are are great knives. Some of BM's finest!

Nice Proto above. Looks unused too!

Thanks, the top one is like new. Was given to me like that by a dear friend. The Bottom one, or second generation with 154CM steel was heavily used while I was still on active duty. That knife has seen some use and always came back for more. The finish really helps hide all the scratches. Still smooth as can be and the lock up is still rock solid after all these years. Retired it around 2009 along with my Original AFCK when I retired.

The Stryker is right up I think as far as BM all time classics.

I think your friend gave you a very clean knife if it's lightly used. In recognizing Benchmades, the Griptilians and Strykers are instant to most of us.
