Question about AXIS lock

I have never got to play with a benchmade that has the AXIS locking system. Not positive how it works but is there a way to 'unlock' the blade so you can just flick your wrist and the blade will come out? Or is the axis just a way to close the blade and you have to use the thumbstud? Sorry for the 'newbie' question but unfortunately I live in a town where knife purchases are limited to walmart. Thanks!

Yup, that's how my brother's AXIS works, pull the bar back and flip, out comes the blade. It might take a little practice to get perfect but it really does work nicely. .

The axis acts as a closing force, when closed or about to close (which helps making flicking closed possible) Then it also locks the blade in the open position. You don't have to pull the axis bar back when opening, but it does help by taking pressure off the tang, making it easier to open (reguar thumbstud opening). You can even open it without touching the blade, or axis bar( kina hard though).

Anyway there's a lot of ways you can open it. You won't be dissapointed by an BMs. It's too bad that you can't feel what knife you're going to get, but they are all generally REALLY, REALLY GOOD! So just get one in the style you like.

You can flick the blade open without touching thumbstud nor axis lock.....with a bit of practice. I've found this to be true with almost any folder available (Benchmade or other manuf).

Yeah, but that's supposed to be pretty hard on the mechanism. Use the axisbar if you're going to flick it. It will last longer.

...I'll try to resist flicking it open without the axis...it is funner to do without the axis.

Then again...with the thumb on the axis, you can flick it both open and close. Pretty darn fun too. :D
Sure, but it won't be much fun when you're picking your fingers off of the floor after the blade bounces closed on your fingers..
