Is the blade made from A-2 or Sandvik 12C27? I've seen them advertised both ways at different sites. They're A2 according to the BRK&T site. Andybody have one? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just want to be sure.

They make quite a few knives in both of those steels. They used to make a stick tang one now they are full tang.

The full tang versions, which were the most recently produced, are A2

The hidden tang versions, with the swedge, are 12c27

The BR Kephart is one of the best knives I have owned. It fits my hand perfect, and does alot of things real good. It holds a good edge and really will cut. I used it on dressing a deer, and it worked perfect. One fine knife.

Sanchez is right. The newer full tang versions are A2. The older hidden tang versions were stainless. I've got one of the older ones. Here's a couple pics.

Ok, so 2 different versions were made huh? Guess I'll have to be careful what I order when it comes time to. I plan to use it as a general outdoors/game knife. The Kephart's simplicity really appeals to me.

Thanks for the help guys - and great pics!
