I just picked up a 940 with S30V steel and I really like it. My question is, Just how durable is this knife? It is extremely light and with the aluminum handles I just wonder how much it can take. I carry an old 710 I bought in 1999 and it has been awesome, but can the 940 stand up to some hard use as well. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

I also have a 710 and 940. I have beat the crap out of my 940 and it still locks upsuper tight and is still as smooth as butter after three years...

Yeah the handle is thin--almost as thin as a 530, but it is a tough little folder in my experience.

Ditto. After Hurricane Ivan beat us up, my 940SBT was my user at the time and it saw alot of hard use. It's still in perfect shape, other than the scratches in the anodization. I actually think it looks cooler now than it did brand new. It will stand up to some hard use.

It's a sweet knife. Osbourne outdid himself on this one. The blade shape is usefull and overall the knife just kicks ass.   Z

I used my 940 in 154CM to scrape off shelving paper. It is a tougher knife than I originally thought. I sure wish I would have bought one in S30V (the one with the titanium handle) when I had the chance. It's light weight, thin in the pocket for easy carry and IMO a very sturdy and durable knife with a decent sized blade. If I didn't like Sebenzas so much I wouldn't hesitate to EDC one. It's one of those knives that are much tougher than they look. Kinda like the Mnandi from CRK.

I've had a few 941 variants over the years. I have settled in on two SLE versions for long term EDC rotation. I don't pry a lot with my knives, but have been shocked at how much cutting the 941 will do. The overall deign is one of the best as far as balancing cutting ability vs size in my opinion.

The Osborne 94X series is a big winner in my experience.

A Benchmade 940 is my primary EDC. My first was a 154CM model and I followed that with a Model 940TI, a 940 in red and a Model 940TI-01. Recently I picked up a new 940 in S30V for EDC. Nothing at all wrong with the first one, just wanted the newer steel.

I EDC a 940Ti. The only thing really keeping it from being "heavy-duty" is that the handle is thin and narrow. Outstanding knife, IMO. Light, compact, strong lock, rigid handes, lots of blade with very little belly...I want something with different handles on a work/heavy use knife, but for EDC the 940 is about perfect for me.
I like the Ti handles best. Had a couple of blue 940s back when they were a "knife of the month" in 2000, and those were cool, but the ano wears eventually, and the Ti just feels better for some reason. I never liked the way the carbon fiber variations felt, either, but they looked good.
