Hello all...

This is an amazing place and I am happy I found it.

I have a question about the value of two knives I own. Both knives are in their original packaging, completely as packed by Benchmade. The knives have not been used, I mean the blade edges have not touched anything! Factory fresh.

They are both Benchmade knives and here are the names. The first is a Elishewitz mini stryker model number 905SBT, the second is an Emerson CQC7 model number 970SBT.

What are they worth?

With many thanks in advance,

Mike

The 970 is a very popular model. It's a great knife, but it's also one of essential Benchmade knives that propelled the company to its current success and, therefore, of great interest to Benchmade collectors. In fact, I'd assert that no general Benchmade collection would be complete without one.

This is a knife that was originally designed by Emerson for (and the request of and with the cooperation of, actually, really) the US Navy Seals. They then wanted Emerson to produce the knives for them, but Emerson's facilities at the time weren't up to it. So, they asked Benchmade. But, The Seal's desired quantities were to small for Benchmade to justify tooling and so forth. So, the deal was struck to allow Benchmade to market the knife to the general market with the Emerson logo on it. This means that this is one of the few real opportunities you have to own something that is actually, really genuine US Navy Seals equipment which is of great interest to collectors of militaria.

Finally, the exposure that this knife gave Emerson with his name on it and publicity in the BM catalog and so forth really helped propel Emerson too. So, this knife is of great interest to Emerson collectors, indeed a must-have for Emerson collectors.

Thanks Gollnick...I had no idea this knife had such a pedigree! It really is a pretty knife as well. So it is a collectable...very cool. What is the market for one that truly is in new condition?

Again, grateful for your help.

Mike

You might want to ask this in the Emerson area.
I would think (not 100%) that Emerson fans would also have a great interest in this knife.
