Merry Christmas everybody!

I was looking through some of my blades today, and came across my very first "expensive" knife: My old 975! It was my constant companion from the time I bought it ('96 or '97) until just a few years ago. It was also my first left hand specific knife. Loved her for years, and actually put her up because I didn't wanna loose her. However, as I have bought higher end knives, he blade play has become a real sore spot for me. I know BM has a pretty good warranty on their "current" knives, but would their warranty help me out on my old 975? I want to get back to a rock solid lock-up, and maybe a re-beadblasting and sharpening. What do you guys think?

Good question. About the only thing Benchmade won't do on your list is re-blast the blade. Just about everything else is fair game. Here's the link you'll need for the LifeSharp document to print out: http://www.benchmade.com/images/pdf/LifeSharp_Service_Letter.pdf

Wrap that beauty carefully, if you still have the original box please leave it home. Use the carrier of your choice, (I use USPS) and insure the knife. Since tracking is now included for free you can watch the process from your computer. The cost? Just follow the instructions! (It's $5 for the servicing and you ship on your nickel.)

I love the old CQC series, don't have either 970 of 975 currently, but yours is worth every penny and more.

Think that they could do anything about the less than solid lockup?

Yes. Mention that in the space provided, it's a priority. Frequently in the process of tuning and sharpening these, our knives, often come back with many more years of life ahead. Many of us have been surprised at the level of service, and what they choose to do while the knife is up there. Also, once you're in their system there will be a track record of all repairs and requests; it's very efficient. Also I would remind everyone that if, and when calling them, be patient. Apx. 500+ knives arrive every day and how anyone keeps track of all of this is a mystery.

If they can't fix it to your liking, I have a used left hand 975 that I bought for my brother and he didn't want that I could be persuaded to sell once I upgrade my membership. :)
