I noticed that there is a slight inward curve on the blade from the handle to the point where it starts to curve the other way towards the point. Is this normal?

Mine all have a bit of extra material near the choil, and a tiny wee bit of recurve. It’s so negligible that I don’t notice.

In my personal opinion that 9 looks fine and ready for some fun!

Almost every knife I have bought has been like that. It’s one of my pet peeves. They don’t pay attention to the choil area leaving a little too much there as MolokaiRider said. Then they take out too much further down.

It’s a problem with all production knives. It either goes away as you sharpen it. Or gets worse if you aren’t careful.

Simple answer yours is normal.
