l didn't know they were made with cut away sections in the tangs until l saw the pics posted on this forum.

How strong are they? Are they as strong and sturdy as a regular full tang?

l've put my Combat-Utility through some HARD use over the summer and it's held up beautifully.

I can't imagine the skeletonized tang is going to fail from any sort of normal or even hard use. Maybe if you logged it in a crack in hte roadway and ran a tire up agianst it.

BK1 and BK2 are solid full tang where the BK9, BK7, BK10 have the hollow tang.

Mine are now filled with epoxy and sandwiched between two pieces of Micarta with Loveless Rivets.

As l said, l really put my 7 through some hard use.

l got it for a good price off ebay only to find the grind lines were sloppily done. l reckoned it must have been a factory second so l decided to see just how much (reasonable) abuse a BK&T could take.

Apparently, they can take a LOT of abuse.

Aside from some scuffs and scratches, it survived everything l put it through.
