When sharpening your necker do you sharpen it to shaving sharp? The reason I'm asking is last night I sharpened mine and when I put it in it's sheath and pull it back out it's not as sharp as when inserted. Is this a common problem or am I doing something wrong? I sharpen by hand using an arkansas stone, do I maybe need to try a different angle? please help if you can I love this knife and it's been in my pocket since I got it. Maybe I'm being to particular but I like my knife to be shaving sharp, but maybe this knife is not meant to be that way. Thanks, Travis

You're doin' it right, the sheath dulls it. It will only do it until the material that is draggin' the edge is cut away. Sheaths are the only weak link in the BKT lineup, but at the price they sell for, you can either line the sheath with something, or just let it roll.

To answer your question, yes, I take my knivest to razor sharp and keep them pretty well tuned up. My BK14 sheath will take a razor sharp ESKabar and dull it down to just sharp with a couple of sheathings.

I'll be able to keep my 11 hair popping sharp once my leather Moose sheath is produced:cool:

Thanks Moose, I appreciate the response. Guess I'm goona see if I can't make me a leather sheath for it then.

Ahaa!! Is that the reason!! :(

I just could not understand why my EsKaBar's edge wasent razor sharp after just playing around the house...
I was going to the extent even thinking you Beckerheads was full of it.. "Becker is the best quality/cost blade" Yeah right..

But "sheath=dull edge" just might be the explanation..... Thanks! :)

I'm a beginner using the Lansky sharpening systems at a 25 degree angle.. Any of you Beckers out there have any experience with that sharpening system??

Tons of it. I been using a Lansky for over 10yrs, most of my blades get it regularly. I prefer guide systems over, freehand, but that's just my preference. I do have been stones and water stones, and my bigger blades get those, so, fire away, whatchoo got?

I have a Lansky Basic, Deluxe, Diamond Basic, and Diamond Deluxe. I have 2 kits that I put together myself, buying the individual pieces.

I also have a DMT Diamond guide system, a Spyderco Sharpmaker, and I am going to be buying a Edge Pro system soon too.

I have about 12 assorted stones that I use, but mostly Norton and Arkansas stones.
