Question about Boker Barlows

Hi Folks,

I am looking at these gorgeous Boker Barlow knives but I cannot figure out the differences between the various lines, especially with regard to the size of the knife.

I have purchased two Boker Barlows in the past and both of them were tiny, about the size of my thumb.

I am looking for a Boker Barlow that is comparable to an Opinel #8. I don't think they are made quite that long but can anyone tell me which line is the longest? From looking at the 'net I am getting the impression that the longest ones are about the same size as a Lionsteel Jack (which I have and find just a tiny bit too short, though an almost perfect design and build).

I love those spearpoints and would like to be sure it is substantial enough before I spend that much money on one.

Thanks!

How big is your thumb? 🤔

This one is 3 3/8" closed.
GEC's Barlows made on the #15 frame are 3 1/2", which is pretty standard sized for a Barlow knife.

A barlow comparable to an Opinel number 8 would be a "Daddy" Barlow.
It sounds like you are buying on line.
I don't think any of the Tree Brand are small/tiny. I believe Böker still makes a Daddy Barlow, but I'm not sure if it is a single or two blade.

Thanks, a Daddy Barlow sounds good, I'll look for one.

Yes, buying online. Not a lot of knife stores in the Bay Area that sell traditional, mostly kitchen knives and "tacti-cool" knives.

The tiny ones I have are two bladed, red/orange, and have a little shield shaped like the shield on American currency (as opposed to some other design.)

Yeah, a Barlow on par with a #8 Opi is not a typical size, historically, other than the Daddy. I'm not aware of Boker making a Barlow of that size currently, though various other manufacturers have made Daddy Barlows in the past - S&M, Russel, Case, Schrade....

Can we also discuss the Franken-Cup? 😅
