The other day I was at a fishing flee market and picked up a buck knife. After doing a little research I found that it was a buck 119 (apparently a very popular hunting knife). Well, theres a few models it seems, and I can't figure out which one mine is. I was wondering if anyone knew of how to determine which one is which. I noticed after the 119 that is stamped on the blade there is a little chevron, does this mean anything? I'm just a little curious.

Spookyu, you got a nice knife there...you'll find lots of things to use it for. The chevron lets you know the year the knife was produced. Depends on which way the chevron is pointing.

Go the the Buck web page http://www.buckknives.com/collectors_vintage.php and scroll down to the date stamps...it will be 1986-89. Good Luck, Preston

Preston and I have different places to look at the date stamps. ;) (I found those date stamps here.)

The steel used in your knife is 425M, which is considered by many as a step up from todays more widely used 420HC steel.

Hope this helps!
