This site has a marine combat knife for 12.99. Really cheap, but has anyone used this knife in the field before? Thanks in advance.

Someone gave me that exact knife brand new in the box. When I opened it, it smelled like toxic waste. It's sharp, but the 420 will dull quickly with use. It doesn't have a full tang for strength which will limit what you can do with the knife. Chopping and prying will quicky kill it. Overall in this particular instance, you will get exactly what you pay for. JUNK!!!!

If this is the type of knife you are looking for. Get on ebay and get a Camillus Marine combat knife. You might be able to pick one up for less than 20.00 and for sure for less than 30.00. Parkerized blade, treated stacked leather handle, leather sheath. They havn't changed it at all. It's the same as it was when it was issued during WWII.

Camillus is a knife manufacterer, and Kabar is part of Ontario knife company, which, of course manufactures knives too. Both have received military contracts for the Marine Corps Fighting Utility Knife. Either knife is very high quality for a reasonable price, and made to the same military specs set forth in WWII. BTW, "kabar" became a generic term for this knife design, in the same way that many people call all sport-utility-vehicles "Jeeps"..... I would avoid the cheap knock-offs like the plague.

Thanks for all the info guys. Right now I'm saving up for a U.S.M.C Ka-bar with black handles and a serrated edge. What do you think? Also, does anyone know where I can get one with white handles? I thought that looked pretty mean with the serrated edge:D . Thanks in advance.
