I am making two knives with buffalo horn handles, one jigged and one flat. The scales that where jigged came to me flat, bot the ones that are plain have a warp to them. I was wondering if there was a technique to straighten them besides just attaching them and trying to force the flat.

Grinding them flat would be the best. Depending on how warped they are and the type of fasteners you are using you might be able to get away with just fastening them on. If it is a small warp and you are using a rivet or srew type fastener you will probably be ok. There are also some threads on bending horn, you could try straightening them.

sorry, must have done somthing wrong on the first search. found the thread about straightening horn thanks

Clamp them and put them in an oven at 225 degrees for a half hour. Turn the oven off, and let everything cool to room temperature before unclamping.
You will need to use mechanical fasteners with horn- peened pins, Corbys, cutlers rivets, etc.
