Hey guys,
I have quick questions regarding the knives with a Cerakote finish.

Are they coated with the handles on? Is there any kind of coating under the handle scales?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, coated over the handles, no idea about anything under the scales as I don't think anyone has had a reason to remove the handles to check? The three I had were pretty well sealed up by the cerakote covering the scale to handle area anyhow, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I sent an email to busse several days ago, when I get an answer I will update this thread.

The Shark Face ASH-1 i have, looks like its been Cerakoted with handle on it.

As promised, here is the update.

Today I had time to remove the rivets. Underneath the scales I found some spots of rust. The surface seemed to be blasted, but I am not sure. If it was blasted, then I think it's for the cerakote to stick better.
I removed the spots of rust and then brushed the surface. The last picture shows the before and after brushing quite well.

Hope this is informative to anyone interested. :)

Happy Easter!

Looks like it might have just been raw decarb layer under the handles, first I have seen that on a non res-c tang. Most tangs under the handles I have seen uncoated look like big satin or your after shot. Fascinating, thanks for the pics.

Please explain "brushing". Thanks.
I used a metal brush with a Dremel.

Okay that's interesting. So decarb also feels a bit rough?

How did you remove the pressed brass tubes?
The tubes were not brass, but actually some other kind of silver metal. I drilled them out, works quite well.
