Just bought a new Case 63032 stockman since misplacing my old one, love the knife just wondering what is the best way to force the patina on chrome vanadium. Not even sure I want to yet but wondering what you guys have came up with. Thanks

Stick the blade in an acidic fruit like an orange, leave it for a while and then don't clean the blade right away. Keep doing until you get the patina.

Don't force the patina. Just let it happen naturally. That looks the best
I think...

My yeller CV pen knife has a patina now and I have only had it a few weeks. I wasn't necessarily trying to force a patina when I sat down in front of the TV and starting cutting an apple into wedges as I watched a movie. By the time I was done, I had a patina. That's all it took...one apple.

I bought a stockman a few weeks ago cheap on the bay and it was listed as SS. Well, it wasn't, so I decided to play around with it and spread mustard on the blades to force the patina. I didn't leave it on as long as I would have liked, but it worked. I hear sticking the blade into a potato works, also.

The way I've done my last few, is to carry the knife for a couple of weeks just to ware all the oil off then wrap the blade in a papper towel then wet with vingar it has worked well for me.

Just use it, you'll have a nice patina in fairly short order anyway. Patina is something your knife EARNS. :D

This was brand new when I put the patina on it.
The base color is white vinegar, hot white vinegar. Submerged for about 15-20 minutes then lightly polished with flitz to smooth it out and lighten just a touch.
The splotches and darker spots came when I dabbed spicy brown mustard on it, and wrapped it in a paper towel soaked in balsamic vinager for about an hour, maybe 2.
It looked a mess when I unwrapped it, and I had to clean it pretty aggressively to get it looking like it did in the pictures. The darkest spots are where the mustard was thinnest. Where it was thick the patina basically didn't change from the white vinegar.
Just have fun with it.

I like to stick mine in a tater for about a week...makes the whole blade turn dark blue...almost black, but thats just me.
