Question about coatings and kydex.

I want to make a kydex sheath for my RC3 and was worried about the heat from the kydex messing up the coating on the blade. Do I have anything to worry about?

BTW: I love this knife. Now I need to find him a big brother:D. I've bought two RATs in the past month Izula and RC3. Great blades, nice thin handles, etc, etc, etc... You guys know thw rest;)

No worries, I've molded hundreds of sheaths to RAT cutlery blades at temps up to 275degrees and haven't had a single problem.

I always put blue painters tape onto the blade. Not to protect it, but to allow a little extra space in the finished sheath. Don't know if that protects the finish but I doubt it.

I've heated kydex to around 310 degrees F at times with no tape on the blade and haven't noticed any effect on the blade coating.

Most powder coats "flow" at 400 to 430 degrees. I have heated up gun parts I have powder coated and not affected the surface at even 300 degrees.
