Hi everyone. I finally found a competition finish TGLB! I just want to check with the experts to make sure I'm getting a fair deal. Things can get complicated whith knifes of this value/rarity. What is a fair price for a mint competition finish TGLB with black canvas handles and a spec ops sheath? Thanks guys.

You can buy one direct, from Busse. So $387 for micarta, and and $50 for multicolored g10. That's a fair price... because that's what it cost to buy one new, right now. Just call them to place the order, so you can specify CF.
Edit: add $40 for the sheath.

The guy is asking $900. I want to know if I should try to talk the price down a bit, or if that's actually a pretty standard price for one of these. I know they're not offering competition finish anymore, and I really want to get in on one. But I don't want to be ripped off.
EDIT: wait, are they still taking orders for competition finish knives? Specifically the competition finish TGLB?

Last summer you could get them for $300-350. By the end of last year I think they were bringing $500.

They do not offer competition finish anymore. That's what the prices shot up on here and ebay.

That's way too much. I'd buy two from the website for that money. You can strip them and have your own cf.

It is so easy to strip it yourself. I went from this

Just get some chemical stripper and a scotchbrite pad.

9 bills is steep!!!

Stripped CGs can look pretty sweet. So does using the thing enough to wear the coating away.

There are some good threads around this forum about stripping the CG blades.

Stripping a blade seems like the best option for me. I'm glad I came here first:) you guys are life savers!

W, you coulda just asked me. Oink!

It didn't occur to me that I could strip the blade haha. I obviously have much to learn. I will probably leave the coating on for at least a couple of months of use, just to see if I like it or not anyways.

Isn't a competition finish just basically an uncoated combat grade blade?

No, naked CG INFI can be really fugly. For a CF, the Shop would give it a grit blast ( and maybe a bead blast?) to clean it up a little. Whereas in a true DCBB finish the blade would be first finished to a near satin quality and then grit blasted and bead blasted.
