I just got a large 21 tanto with micarta inlays. It is an awesome knife and I love the convex front edge. The issue is, it doesn't seem very sharp. The belly is sharp but the front edge where it is convexed seems a little dull. Is this normal? Thanks for the help!!

I don't have one, but I understand the geometry pretty well and that sort of edge won't pass the same sharpness "tests" that a conventional edge (like the rear portion of your blade) will. What are you doing to gauge it?

I would strop it a bit to bring it up a notch, you should be able to shave arm hair with it pretty easily (the ones I have worked with certainly would).

I have a sebenza tanto and the convex tip came razor sharp.

The problem is resharpening. It's a pain to reconvex the edge, so I just put w bevel on it.

But unit is right, try and strop it, you'd be surprised how much of a sharp edge just a quick strop can bring out.

Awesome knife BTW. That large micarta tanto was my first sebenza, and it lives in my pocket ever since.

It's scratched dinged, scuffed, and I love it!
