Question about CRK Clip Inserts???

Hey there everyone! Excuse me if this has been discussed, but I could not find anything on the topic. Do the Large Ti clip inserts fit all?

I have a large Sebenza 21 so would a Lg Clip Insert be universal amongst the Large Regulars, 21s, and Classics? Are they interchangeable?

CRK sells a separate clip insert for large and small models, which makes no sense to me whatsoever, as the clips themselves are universal. It's the size of the cutouts in the handles of Sebenza's (speaking for Regular-profile large and small) that differ in size.

That is ironic and I was thinking the same thing. I have a Small Ti insert for the small Sebenza and looking to get a Large Ti insert, but wasn't sure if the cut outs amongst the regular, 21, and classics were the same or not.

Wow good call I always assumed the inserts were the same for the large and small since they use the same clip but i just looked and they are different size cutouts !!! Go figure !!!
 
I just checked it out.

I have a small Sebenza with a Small Insert and the Small Insert does indeed fit in the large, but does not fill the entire gap like it does on the small obviously..but you can get by using the small insert for the large.
 
Truth be told I have a classic and bought a clip insert a few months ago. It fits my sebenza, but the insert is not perfectly flush with the rest of the handle. It's extremely thin, so maybe it's as thick as it has to be, but it's always bugged me a bit.
 
Seeing as how this thread was created in regards to clip inserts, I too have a question. Can anyone please comment as to the finish of the clip insert. Do they have a bead blasted finish or a satin one? Is it possible to chose?

The only one I have is for the small Sebenza 21 and it is bead blasted. I have never seen a clip insert that wasn't bead blasted. I'm sure the "scotch bright" method or just some sand paper would polish it up quick.

I checked the CRK website and it does not specify. This is quoting chrisreeve dot com.

"Titanium clip insert for Large and Small Sebenzas and Umnumzaan. Insert comes with 303 stainless screw. (Please state beadblasted or polished screw when ordering.)"

The large sebenza, small sebenza and umnumzaan use the same clip insert as they all use the same clip. I had several at one time and swapped them around from time to time. On some sebenzas, the clip fits a little tighter than others, but the one clip will fit them all.
 
I believe you are incorrect, if and only if my assertion in parentheses below is true.

While the small insert may fit large Seb's and Umnum's, it does not fill all of the gap as aforementioned by Zippo. There is both a large insert and a small insert, as the recesses on large Seb's/Umnum's and small Seb's differ in length. The clip itself is universal in size for all, but not the recess.

(Unless this has changed with newer Sebenza models--I own only large and small Regular Seb's and one Umnum).
