I'm new to the forum and I'm trying to gain some knowledge in regards to a small CRK Sebenza. I was able to pick up a small Sebenza NIB dating 2008, which I believe is the first year of production for that model. It does not have the "Idaho" stamp and it has the S30vn blade, as opposed to the newer S35vn. My question is, "Is it a more valuable piece, due to it's birthdate, or less valuable due to the S30"? I can also pick up its larger counterpart for a good price....

Any information would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Mr. Salty. . . Welcome to the CRK forum. It may have a slight more collector appeal in that it is missing the "Idaho Made" markings because there are some who prefer it without. For me, it doesn't change the value much as I am fine with or without the marking.

great score! the value really should'nt matter, one of the best knives CRK made! the Idaho Made is really water under the bridge...

I do believe you might need a "gold membership" to start asking questions about value.

Regardless, it is a matter of preference. Some prefer the old S30v and no stamp, to some it doesn't matter.

I really want to thank everyone for their input and assistance. I really love this forum because of that!

Another difference some people might prefer is the stonewash finish on the S30V ones, the S35VN ones have a different stonewash but I think for a little while it was the same finish when S35VN was first introduced but eventually CRK changed their stonewash process.

First off, welcome to the forum! From what I've seen on the forums lately the older 21s pre-stamp seem to show up less frequently than the newer, stamped versions. The difference in value between them however is seemingly negligable imho. At this point at least, I really haven't noticed a significant price increase on the older 21s though many see it as enough of a selling point to include this detail in the thread title of their sale. I have read about some peoples' preference for the S30V on the older Sebs, but for every one of those there is someone who prefers S35VN. Similarily, for every person who seeks out a non-stamped Seb, there is someone who doesn't mind the stamping and can therefore purchase a more readily available stamped model. From a selling standpoint I've communicated with people who have preferences all across the board and I haven't really noticed one of these aspects in much larger demand than the other. Long term I think the non-stamped versions will be harder to come by as they are done being made for the time being. Whether or not this will significantly effect the value remains to be seen. Just a suggestion, but a poll thread may help you determine what users' preferences are concerning these variations of the Sebenza. This is of course just my opinion of what I've seen on the forums lately but I may be off. I'm curious to see what other people think about it as well. Hope this helps and again, welcome to the CRK forum and congrats on your new Sebenza, I'm sure it won't be your last.

Again, I want to thank everyone for educating this "newbie" to the knife world. I'm learning lots and the more I learn, the more I want!!! This s a horrible addiction. I thought baseball cards were bad...
