Question about customizing a Busse

Down the road I would like to customize one of my combat grade Busses. I am aware that the regular INFI comes with a pock marked surface. My question is, is it possible to strip off the black coating and send the blade back to Busse for a satin finish such that all - and I mean all - the pock marks are completely polished out? Or does the blade always maintain a certain amount of pock marks no matter what? Would it be better just to purchase a satin finished blank from Busse before moving on to the bolsters, grips, etc? I really like that custom SH-E that has been posted on these forums with the mammoth ivory grips and engraved bolsters. But I don't know if the owner started with a pre-existing combat grade blade, or started with a pre-existing satin finished blade. Thanks.

Ad,
I believe that the customized SH-e that you are talking about probably started as a CG Busse.

In my opinion if you are going to customize it anyway why not buy a CG model use it, abuse it and then customize it down the road. That way you would save on the Satin finish from the shop. :D

The rough surface marks are only going to be on the handle flats and sometimes (only seen it a couple times) along the very top edge of the blade. It is barely noticable in the second case.

All the satin models I have still show a little bit of the "pocking" but it doesn't really detract from the overall appearance IMO. It is considerably smoother and better blended than the plain stock finish.
It actually looks kind of cool!
