I've seen Kershaw composite blades with either "D2" or "CPM-D2" written on them. Has Kershaw used both steels in their composite blades or just CPM-D2? Thank you.

All of mine are CPM-D2. The ones that aren't ZDP-189, N390 or Vanax 75 that is.

I've never seen a composite blade Kershaw labeled "D2". I've seen plenty of retail websites that lists composite blade Kershaws as being D2 and 14c28n for example. They are incorrect. CPM-D2 is what it used on some of the composite blade Kershaws.

At the moment I can only assume it's just labeled incorrectly. Maybe Thomas can chime in for some clarification.

Thanks Morrow. It's headed to richard j right now for a satin finish and drilled out liners. The knife is a tad heavy and I don't much care for bead blast finish. I'll probably send it to STR next to swap the clip to tip up, I haven't talked to him about it yet. It'll more than likely get new scales too. I'm not enough of an OCC fan to carry a knife with a big ol' OCC medallion on the handle.

I picked the knife up for just under $90 shipped. The deals are out there.
