does delrin have the "off gassing" like celluloid????

just curious because i have several yellow handled delrin knives i'd like to know the best way to store.

thanks
sam from kentucky

No problems like celluloid can have.Just store them out of the sun and you shouldnt have a problem.

good to know, out in the sun haha, they usually live in the dresser drawer when they aren't in my pocket, but there are a couple i rarely slide in the pocket and just didn't want them to set in the drawer for ever and then one day pull em out all rusted.

thanks

The only problem ive seen with delrin is when people have them in glass top showcases and the color fades some. That what i meant about the sun.Ive melted it trying to clean it up with a buffer, but generally its a tough beater material. As far as rusting in a drawer, that wont happen unless you're in a very humid environment.A couple of drops of oil spread out on the blades will stop that.

Delrin is tough stuff. When I get really old dirty knives (especially Old Timers), I'm always amazed at how well it holds up. Seals it right though, one side can be faded sometimes.

this is all good info, i'm glad to know that delrin is gonna hold up well, as the yellow handled case knives are my favorites, just wish they made a canoe in yellow.

thanks

Not delrin, but you can find Case canoes in yellow bone.

FYI: Rough rider makes some canoes with yellow handles that use synthetic material. Might be delrin, not sure........

If I was you I would do as Seals said and spread oil lightly on all the blades before you store them away. Just remember a "little" oil goes a "long" way. I've figured that out the hard way. Lol Oily pants pockets. :grumpy: :)
