Question about dimples

So I've only had a few sebenzas, but I have noticed this both in photos here on the forum and my own: why the dimple on the thumbstud?

I've had one with a totally flush thumbstud, and one with that indent dimpled thumbstud.

I know it's really a pointless question but it's always on my mind whenever I look at/use them.

Thanks

The earlier thumb studs were flat on the back with a slight chamfer on the hole in the blade to help it all look nice. The newer thumb studs have the dimpled back to make them look even nicer, I don't mind them at all really but don't own any so far as I'm a vintage Sebenza sort of guy. :p

I don't mind dimples on the back, right above the hips on both sides of the tramp stamp ;)
As far as the thumb stud goes I think that it looks fine but I would vote for the flat version.

^ :D
My brohammie 1Abominable1 forgot to mention that with the new indentation, some of the milling can tend to stick up and be a bit sharp(pointy). Not an issue with the silver lug as it can be filed down with a dremel tool. On a blue stud you would end up leaving bright spot. I just received a new CF inlayed Seb with the blue stud, but the milling on the back is smooth.

Right on my Brother, I've had to, as you well know, take the burr off of a couple of them so far. I'm sure the sharp ones are a minute amount of what leaves the factory but it looked fine to me smooth and was always perfect so that's what I prefer.

I originally liked the dimple as it matched the lanyard pin, but ive come back to liking the flat one as it looks much cleaner and smooth with it being flush with the blade.

Exactly!
I liked how it matched as well but soon realized that I liked how the flat looked better to me by not standing out.

I have noticed the differences as well. I have both. I have yet to see one sharp though where it needed to be filed down. Can't imagine one like that making it out of the shop, much less even installed in the first place. QUICK FIX....Double Studs to ALL Sebenzas....LOL.

You prefer double lug? I kinda like that they only put it on the side that is specific to which model you chose. To me it's very unique. It is especially cool on the left hand knife. Everything about it screams southpaw only, which almost makes me wish I was one!

Yet another reason why I'd go with any of the pre 25 models first.

I'm a fan of the double lug merely for utility. I was actually bummed when i picked up a Starbenza and it was only single lugged.
