Question about DMT aligner and Sharpmaker rods

I have had Sharpmaker for a few years now and have used it with fairly good results. I was looking over the medium rods the other day and noticed that there are a few bumps and flat spots on the cornered edges. I bought it used and am thinking that it's not something that I did as you would probably have to cut into them pretty good to mark them up. Anyway, will this affect putting a nice edge on a blade, or should I get a replacement set? I am also thinking of getting a DMT diamond Aligner kit. I want to reprofile a few of my better steel knives to a different angle. Does the DMT have an angle setting that will correspond to the 30 degree setting on the sharpmaker? Also, since the job of the DMT would mainly be reprofiling and the occasional chip repair, would I be better off just getting a set of the Sharpmaker diamond rods? Cost of each is about the same. I am thinking the DMT would be more versatile. Thanks

Each of my white triangles has 1 side like this. I avoid sharpening on these sides.

I've had a Sharpmaker for years.
Recently got the DMT Aligner. Love it. Faster, easier to clean, easier.
As for the settings, I read here on these forums, that a lot of people used the #5 setting. That setting worked well for me on knives that I had used the 30 degree setting on with a Sharpmaker.

Right now I am looking forward to some XFine and XXFine stones for the Aligner for a more polished edge. But the Fine has put a really good edge on my knives.

So, should I go diamond or no diamond? I was thinking of getting them sharp with the DMT diamonds and then finishing them on the ceramics and keeping them touched up there.
