Ok, seeing as i am new to all this still. To my understanding the way DOTD works is, certain items are put up on certain days at awesomely great prices. Correct me if wrong.

Now next question. After looking through the forum ive noticed previous DOTDs with items that did not sale. If an item does not sale that day dose it become unbuyable after that day or is it still purchasable at the DOTD price.

Thanks for any info looking forward to the upcoming DOTD.

If you see an item you like from a previous DOTD that does not seem to have sold, just send Yangdu an email and if it's still available, it's probably yours. I just ordered a khukuri in this manner last week. There does seem to be times that the "sold" notification does not get put up so sometimes you'll see items as available that might already have been sold - mostly it seems to happen in older DOTDs as I'm sure Yangdu does not always have the time to update older DOTD threads. Best of luck!!!

Yangdu picks out some khuks, makes a post with pictures and (reduced) prices. There's no formula what shows up - sometimes items with cosmetic damage, sometimes rare one-offs, always HI quality. Prices are variable - an exceptional rare piece may go for list price (if there is a list price). Damaged items may be priced so low you feel guilty for not paying more. Damaged/missing sheaths are somewhat common and usually heavily discounted. Most common are minor shrinkage of the handle material and discoloration of the steel.

No DOTD now because Yangdu is out of town - away from the computer and away from the Khukuri Cave of Wonders. Make sure you read the ordering instructions so you get all of the right info in your claim email.

I'm a college student that finds $$ hard to come by, so I actually ended up doing this. I contacted Aunty Yangdu about a week old DotD 15" AK (great price because of a somewhat loose sheath) that wasn't marked as sold. Turned out that it had been sold but just hadn't been marked as such... However, Aunty felt sorry for my situation and gave me the same price on a perfect fit & finish one! Not saying that you'll have the same luck, but HI is well known for great service like this :o

I was so grateful that I actually purchased another kukri (an 18" Vojpuri) with money I had gotten for my Bday :D

She is indeed generous and a good businesswoman! She is honest and a pleasure to work with. That, and many other reasons, is why HI has such a loyal following. Aunt Yangdu is a gem of great worth.

If a DOTD doesn't sell on the first day... that doesn't mean there's something wrong with it or its not a good deal. It just means the sharks on the prowl already have one or two of them. Scarf them up!
