hello,
i am new here, but a collector for many years.
please help me with a question i have.

there is an early Benchmade /Emerson AUTOMATIC folder
in the 970 style .....with Benchmade logo on one / Emerson logo on the backside ?

how much would such an automatic in plain edge go for / whats the value ?
in new / mint condition ?

i know they are rare...but have no idea on the value.

thanks for any input.

that is a benchmade 9700.

i don't know if id say they are rare, but perhaps uncommon.

ive seen new in box knives sell from 150-225.

i believe the plain edge were made in fewer numbers than the combo edge.

The 9700's are great knives - and the only collaboration between Emerson and Benchmade for an automatic. The G-10 handle scales are quite thick, and the spring is really strong. The knife has a KICK when it snaps open. Maybe due to the thickness of the blade, it's a slow opener but a very solid design.

I owned one and bought it for $100 and sold it for $175...not too bad!

agree with mori' on the price, $150 to $200 or maybe a little more.

i had a PE 9700 yrs ago and it was a good one, wish i still had it too.

i wouldnt say they are rare though they made hundreds if not thousands of them, since they were disco'd years ago though they are kinda uncommon and desireable due to it being the only auto '7s around, from the factory anyway.
