goodday!

Im putting together a BOB for my car. As stove i want to use a Esbit stove. Its a very light weight, small and reliable heating solution. The gas of the esbit fuel is toxic so some common sense is required.

How does the Esbit fuel holds up when its put in my car for long periods of time?
Because the heat the car can easily build up to 50 Celsius / 325 Kelvin / 125 Fahrenheit, i don't want to ignite the fuel or dry out the fuel so it will slowly fill the vehicle with toxic gasses.
Its a hatchback so the esbit is inside the passengers compartment.

I keep ALL trioxane , Esbit ,and hexamine tablets in air-tight container like a Nalgene food bottle labelled specifically for it. It never gets used for anything else later as it gets contaminated with chemical.
Label it clearly. I wouldn't worry about keeping it in a hot car. I've had some in the garage for years and it get's 40C in there.

Hope that helps.

I vac seal the Esbit fuel and stove, and store in the trunk, not the passenger compartment.

You could mount a container inside the hood, or under the car if you were that concerned about storing the fuel inside the car.
I'd say a few sheet metal screws to the firewall, or inside of a fender would do just fine. All of the other plastics seems to do okay under the hood.
You could even mount a "water bottle holder" under there for a Nalgene so that it just slides right in.

Thanks for the answers. I've been thinking of switching over to a solid fuel system as well and appreciate the tips.

The trunk and passengers compartment are split by the fordable rear-seats/couch...its the same compartment. Storing the fuel and burner inside a air-sealed containers is good advise.

The container mounted outside will solve the problem of fire also. But i'm not so sure what the police will say when i'm visiting a different country. its a lil hard to explain that the dried blocks of white powder is fuel for a emergency-stove.;)
