Question about Frankensteining the Endura/Delica

I've seen plenty of photos by people who've swapped out the FFG Endura or Delica blades and putting them in the FRN handles, putting the waved blades in the G10 handles, etc...

My question is would it be possible to use the blade from an older generation (say Gen. 3) Endura or Delica with the current gen. handles? I know the blade shape is different, but is the locking portion essentially the same?

(I realize you'd essentially have to break the older model seeing how they're pinned together)

Well, if the lock geometry between the Endura 3 and the Pacific Salt is the same then you could get an idea from looking at these pictures:

That's just an added bonus. I'm mainly just curious as to whether or not it can actually be done.
