View attachment 1171435 I recently acquired a 110 G-10 5160 from C&C and the G-10 is shiny. Not dull and "grippy" at all. All G-10 I have ever been exposed to is dull and easy to grip.
It's almost like its micarta instead. Is there a variation Buck uses I haven't seen?

Is it because it's new, and has polish on it? I could wash in soapy water but don't want to patina a blade I may return.

I love my 112 nickel pro with g-10, and was considering custom ordering a 110 nickel s30v with drop point and finger grooves. I do not want to end up with something like what this knife is. If it's gonna be shiny I'd rather have the ebony...…..

Thanks Guys.

Buck Knives used to polish the entire handle and bolsters for all custom 110's. They were getting some feedback that the transition from the bolster to the G10 was textured differently so it was determined all custom 110 would be finished similar to the 110 Pro and 110 Auto Elite and have a brushed nickel bolster leaving the G10 with a checkered grip as opposed to polished smooth. If you order a Custom 110 similar to the 110 Pro with finger grooves you will get the textured handle scale with a brushed nickel bolster.

I THINK G10 is pretty much the same composition. (Or would it still be g10?) It just depends on the company and how they finish it. Like cold steel puts out some rough, pocket shredding stuff but spydercos isn't completely smooth like your described but doesn't fell like 80 grit either.

If it's to smooth maybe a couple passes of a piece of high grit sandpaper might help a bit.

I sure like my smooth G10's. Just feel good in my hand and no smoother than dymondwood. The Fox is one of my favorite all time knives.
