Uncle Bill,et al.
I have been going back through all the old posts and pix about the Ganga Ram Special.
It appears to me to be a Forward Curving Khukuri.Even the one in the 1st.pix Uncle posted of him and his nephew appears to be forward curving.

Is it indeed so?

Since they appear and are stated as being around 22" oal and around 2 Lbs 10 Oz to around >3Lbs I was wondering how everone liked thier performance.

Are they similar to the performance of an AK or the Super Salyan?

I would also like to hear any comparisons between them and the FWCK if anyone has both of them.
Thanks.

If you mix milk of magnesia with vodka and orange juice do you get a phillips screwdriver?

Khukuri FAQ

Yvsa --- I have a 20" AK that weighs 3.06 lbs. From a picture of a Ganga Ram, and holding my 20"AK to it, the profile seems to have more of a forward curve on the Ganga Ram.

Yvsa, most who have the Ganga Ram consider it to be "too nice" for heavy use but the few who have tried it say it is a wonderful performer. I'm not surprised. It feels good in the hand, has excellent balance, and has some good weight forward to help in chopping.

I think it would be classified as a forward curving model. I guess that's because Ganga is so old and he clings to styles that he has known in his youth.

He is about to finish up his run but I hope he stays long enough for me to meet him. There are not many old timers like him left and I'd hate to miss him.

Khukuri FAQ

Yvsa, in my opinion, the Ganga Ram and the FWCk have little in common. Though the Ganga Ram can be considered a forward curving khuk, technically speaking, its overall blade geometry is dramatically different from that of the FWCK. The Ganga Ram's blade is much wider and, in my opinion, much more graceful and more refined. I really like my FWCK, but the Ganga Ram is in a class by itself, in my opinion. I don't use my Ganga Ram the way I do my other khuks because it is so very special. The Ganga Ram is extremely well made and sturdy, so it could easily withstand any task; but there is a certain dignity about it that suggests that it is too noble for common chores. The spirit of my Ganga Ram is the most powerful of any khuk I've ever handled.
