Question about GEC 25

I don't yet own a barlow knife, and have been looking at GEC's 25 pattern, as Case does not make one with CV. Not having handled one, I was wondering if any owners of the Case Swayback Jack and the GEC 25 can comment in terms of weight and ease in the pocket, since the swayback is the knife I own that is closest, I believe, in dimensions.

I don't like knives that are obvious in the pocket...

Any comparison photos would also be welcome.

By the way, my interest in the barlow comes from Jackknife's latest tale...

I'm sure you will like the GEC 25.

In 2 blade form it's a little shorter in closed length to the CASE but is wider in the handle/bolster

The CASE weighs in at 61g and my stag GEC is 71g so I'm sure you wont find it obtrusive in the pocket.

There's always the ultra sleek single spring GEC Conductor at a mere 41g the best small knife in my view.

I can understand your liking CV -- so do I but there is nothing wrong with Case's SS. It sharpens nicely/easily and carries holds an edge just as good if not better than CV.

This is my Case Nine Dot Lightning Bolt S (1981 Manufacture) Case XX A62009 1/2 SS Barlow with Appaloosa Bone handles with a Clip Blade and Pen Blade. The blades of this knife are stainless and very sharp.

The swayback was one of my favorite knifes for a good while and I have since replaced it with a 2 blade #25 the #25 is a little heavier but feels really nice in the pocket. I also do not like to really feel a knife when carried and the #25 does a great job.

I have the #25 in Stag. Love it! (if you can, go for the all steel GEC, meaning the bolsters and liners are also carbon steel!). So nice in the pocket. Little guy, with some brawn. I will try to post a picture later. I need sleep, and have to get up early tomorrow.

Hope this helps.
Or as I like to say-
"Short and thick does the trick but thin and long can't go wrong."
cheers.

glad to hear it.that one is a tidioute with sawcut golden rod bone.

I have two #25s
A single blade clip and a double bladed sheepsfoot and small pen

I find my double bladed #25 too thick for easy pocket carry

But........
The single bladed clip is special of all my knives
It is small flat and sits in my pocket un-noticed
It is only 3", but it is very robust and it is much stronger than any knife I have up to 3 1/4".
So it 'out knifes' my peanut, tiny toothpick and even my 3 1/4" Queen stockman and my Case Swayback
For a 3" knife it has a lot of 'much' and 'very' attached to it

I'm waiting for my GEC #25 to arrive. I'm really looking forward to it. Single spear blade and 440C steel.
Maybe the swayback jack will follow...

Mine is my go-to dress pants edc. Especially since my Case peanut has gone AWOL.:( It is about thumb sized and although it has some heft, it is not uncomfortable in dress pants. The rounded shape is easy on the pants fabric too. I love mine.

No sneaking there really, it's a necessity:D:thumbup:

Gives a good size idea too and makes people realize GEC excels at small patterns as well as big.
