are they all pinned? some online stores mention pinned shields on some patterns and no mention with others.

As far as I know, all GEC shields are pinned.

Not only are they pinned, but GEC offers a comprehensive range of shields, far more than any other manufacturer at the moment.

Some of them Cloud, Propeller, Corset are exceptionally nice.

The shields are all pinned on. Except on the Genuine Stag knives.GEC wants to leave the Genuine Stag handle slabs whole, without routing them for a shield. However the shield is packed in the tube, with knife, for use as a Hat Pin or whatever.

My two are 2011's with Burnt Stag and they have shields I think they only leave the shields off the natural and sanbar stag ones

Great Eastern Cutlery uses three types of Stag handle material. Burnt Stag,Natural Stag and Genuine Stag. Burnt Stag and Natural Stag have pinned on Inlay Shields. Genuine Stag handled knives do not have an Inlay Shield on the knife.
