Question about GEC

Do they offer a “spa treatment” for their knives? I read the warranty section, but it didn’t specifically mention any kind of spa treatment that I saw. It is also a bit difficult to navigate on my cell phone.

Looking at moving a few lockbacks, but I’d like the get that “notorious GEC bladeplay” worked out, and have them cleaned up/freshened up and sharpened before I do (they were users to “test” but just are not my taste at all).

Thanks in advance.

I am not aware of any such service offered.

User GECs sell fairly well. Lots of people on here would happily clean and sharpen a user GEC knife. I wouldn’t rush into paying GEC or someone else to clean them up in the hope they would sell for more. It would add cost and delay.

Thanks for the help, gents

Wasn’t really looking to add value, just to freshen up. I guess value goes with condition, but that wasn’t my main goal. Maybe I’ll reconsider before letting them go :)

you'd have a better shot if you took it into the shop like I do during Rendezvous times. It is not particularly "spa treatment" per se, but they did settle and fix what disturbed me about my knives (i.e. off centering due to "modifications")

I would be happy to test those out also! ;)

Warranties are only as good as their application. Wording doesn't matter really at all. The good thing is, GEC is run by good people who believe in their products and that's what really matters.

Definitely, taking a knife in in person is the best way to get it fixed up. Are you going to be at the Rendezvous this year?
