Question about Griptilian steel upgrade

Not sure if it's been covered or not....so I'll apologize if this question has already been asked and answered.

With all the Griptilians getting an upgrade to S30V, what happens a year or 2 down the road when someone's 154cm griptilian needs a new blade?

Will it get an S30V blade or not fixed/replaced if BM is out of the 154cm blades?

I assume BM will throw in a new S30V blade if the need arises but would like conformation for piece of mind. @BKC Customer Service
 
From what I've been told, it's whatever the current blade is. If they are out of 154cm, then you get an s30v blade.
 
Whatever "grade" the blade u sent in, is the one you'll get if they no longer stock that blade steel. So if you sent in your 154cm blade in and they no longer stocked 154cm, they would replace it with whatever parallel steel they currently are using(s30v).
 
Shout out to them for offering this, though. I have a 10-12 year old Griptilian I still carry everywhere that’s on its third blade (wasn’t always nice to it when I was younger). Second was for a non serrated one. It’s one of my favorite things about Benchmade. Makes me not afraid to use that knife.

Couldn't agree more.. I've been daily and hard using a barrage in m390 for the same reason. If I ever do any kind of irreparable damage to the blade I can just send it in and for $25 get a new one put on. BM has their small issues here and there but there CS and warranty dept is second to none. I've prolli received $300+ in deep carry clips for free that I would've had to purchase elsewhere.
 
Does anyone know when they’ll be introducing the updated Griptilian? I have several of them already. I have my pocket one, got one in my backpack, one in my car, couple laying around other places. I’d definitely buy another standard one for this, just to have.

I don't understand this. My three griptillians were configured by me in their custom shop: 20CV drop point/G10, 20CV sheepsfoot/G10, M4 drop point/glass filled nylon.

Not that much more money IMO. Crooked River and Barrage, same. ALWAYS get what you want.
 
Maybe that's what he wants. I was happy with the 154CM. S30V in the Custom Shop was full whack plus the steel upgrade. Now he can get S30V for $5 more than the old ones. If he has them stashed around so they're handy (like I do with SAKs), it's not a bad deal.
 
They’re great user knives. If I come across one for a good price on here or if I happen to get an REI dividend or something, I just grab one. I have one somewhere in 440c. For just stashing places I think I’ll use them I don’t want to use one of the custom shop ones that’ll then get used a few times a year. I see what you’re saying though, you can make a very nice griptilian nowadays. I wouldn’t mind having one at all.
 
Well, my custom Griptillian in M4 came with a coated S30V blade. That was going to be my first M4 knife. I suppose I'll get a refund and buy the new Freek in M4. I don't suppose they will put S30V on that.

I don't know. My olive drab 440C serrated Grip might say different. :cool:

If you haven't checked recently, I saw the S30V updates at bladeHQ today.
 
saw them for sale at my local chain sporting goods store the other day so they’re out there

I had an old 440c grip with a broken tip that was upgraded to 154cm when it was replaced and that's pretty much common practice with Benchmade and discontinued steels etc.
