The tires on my f250 are 10 ply heavy duty tires, and are 185.00 a piece. Since i dont haul anything heavy do i need to use heavy duty tires? Years ago i had a pathfinder that needed tires and got general grabbers for like 110.00. which wasnt bad.

My Silverado came with 4-ply Wranglers and I had nothing but flats for a year and a half, and then a blow-out at highway speed, which wrecked the aluminum rim, too. Switched to 10-ply Michelins and haven't had a problem since. Keep your 10-plys.

Well I don't drive a big old truck, but I do drive a crown vic, and have for many years... I've had excellent experiences with BF Goodrich tires of all types. Michellins too, but I have only had a few sets of touring which wont help much. But my 4x4 buddies all swear by BFG A/T's for street and mixed use.

I've always been happy with the BF Goodwrench All Terrain TA. My truck's an F150 four-wheel-drive and runs well with the size 31x10.5 R15. They're quite a bit less than comparable tires from Cooper, Firestone, etc., but last just as long and have good traction.

Hi VT, Bite the bullet and get the right rating. At the least, get a 'd' rated tire. Your truck's a lot heavier than the 1/2 tons and I'd bet you can't get the right tire size for your rim size. The 'c' rated tires that might fit your rims would probably have a lot shorter profile. I think it's an accident waiting to happen. Good luck, Craig

If you have a 3/4 ton truck, buy 10 ply tires, unless you have way too much money laying around! At least a D rating, but depending on tire size, a E rating

Stay with the "E" rating, look into one of the imports like Hankook. I'm in the tire business for 20+ years and never recommend downsizing. Tires are not that expensive if you shop around, you don't need major brand to get good tires!!

Run less air pressure if you don't carry weight. My Rubicon came with 10 plys but I only ran 32 psi.

When I had a Super Duty, they were E rated tires. If I were you, I would stick with the E rated tires.
