Question about horizontal belt carry

I really like a horizontal carry. When I position my RC3 on my belt (using the paracord method) the knife always angles down slightly.

Obviously the fulcrum is way toward the sheath end, so I think its just "normal". of course, its even more pronounced with my RC4.

Am I doing something wrong with my rig or is this pretty normal? Anyone ever have an issue? I think the sheaths are certainly tight enough that there will never be an problem but wanted to check.

I sometimes carry my RC-4 horizontally when I want it out of the way, but accessible. I put the MOLLE back on it, which has a strap about an inch and a half down from the pommel, so the weight is well supported. The rig's a little bulkier than running just with the kydex sheath, but it keeps the knife very secure.

I would say you hit the nail on the head with the fulcrum thing.

The knife is handle heavy and the first eyelets are too far down on the sheath to allow the knife to sit perfectly hori.

The tek-lok with it's width adjuster for the belt will solve the problem but I wouldn't concern myself with retention with the handle facing down slightly.

Thanks. Yeah, I didnt THINK it would be an issue, shoot its better than inverted carry :). I agree with you. I was using the mollee locks with a webbing belt, but they dont work well with a thick leather belt. They held it straight, but were more bulky. I like the ease and slim look of the paracord carry.

I carry mine with the paracord horizontal all the time and have yet to have an issue.

I carry my rc3 daily at work without an issue. yes it sits lower at the handle but it's tight in the sheath. I carry it on the small of my back horizontally very comfortably. It just takes getting used to it.

Here are a few pics showing what I mean.. HORRIBLE shots from a mirror.. sorry.

I carry mine horizontally with MOLLE Loks and it doesn't droop at all. :)

I'm kinda hammered, so don't mind me if i'm insane... but...im thinking if you put the wrap thru the bottom most holes, and then wraped that -under- your belt...it may bring the pommel up some.
