Question about ivory handle

I have a question please could someone help answer I have a custom demascus folder with ivory handles the knife was one of many featured in knives magazine in 1996 , would that be enough to prove pre ban ivory. I recently went to sale the knife and was told it was worthless.

In order to answer that, we need to know a couple of things. What kind of ivory is it? When did the animal die? When was it imported into the US? Are you in the US?If in the US, what state are you in?

To answer your question based on just what you told us, no, that is not enough to prove it's legal, in fact, it does nothing to prove it's legal.

Assuming you mean elephant Ivory, A dated picture would be considered legal, if it was prior to 1990. Here's a direct link to the US fish and wildlife. It is pretty clear on the subject.
