Hi guys,

I am confused about model 1670BLK of Kershaw knife.

It seems there is 2 blade designs but both are still under 1 model. I think picture below will explain it.
Both knives are in same black color and second knife was shot with a lot of exposure it seems.

Are these really 2 different versions and still sold under same model?

The currently available 1670BLKST model is what you see in the second photo. The difference between the two blades is the grind, the first photo is flat ground and the second photo is hollow ground, as far as I know all the 14c28n blades are hollow ground, rather they are serrated or not. I'm not sure exactly what knife is in the first photo, but the flat ground blade suggests it is a premium blade steel like S30V, Elmax, etc. which typically command a higher price. Most likely someone who didn't really know much about the knife grabbed a stock photo of what they thought was a knife with a black handle and black blade with serrations and called it a 1670BLKST without looking at the small details.

It's possible someone was playing with photoshop, I can't recall seeing a flat ground blur with serrations, and very few flat ground blades have been adorned with the DLC finish.

Edit: It appears Kershaw is confused about what a 1670BLKST looks like as well, they have photos of both a flat ground and hollow ground knife on their website. Current production is a hollow ground blade, but I think there's something in the catalog about KAI reserving the right to change specs at any time.
