I am thinking about selling my sebenza. I am not here asking for offers or anything, I know I need gold and a diff sub-forum

My question is would the knife be worth more/appeal to more people if I sent it off for a spa treatment or would that not be worth the time/shipping cost?

I would think it all depends on its condition. The more well loved it is, the more the spa would help it sell. If it only have a few snail trails its not going to be worth a trip to the spa.

it has been in my pocket pretty much daily last couple years but still looks good. titanium is so tough

I don't want to bend any rules but would it be ok if I posted a pic for opinions on whether it is worth spa or not? I am going to list it for sale on here once I decide if spa is worth it or not

I just want to see it because i like seeing used sebenzas

I take terrible pics at work with an old iPhone but here goes

it's in good shape but the tip could use some fixing/reprofiling.

yeah, it def does. that was a user error on my end. I have not sent back to Chris Reeve because I use mu knife daily and did not want to be without one for so long and it was only edc I owned. I know have another (one reason I am selling) so I could send back.

but from my understanding it can take awhile to get the knife back so from a time perspective trying to decide if worth it or if someone would buy for just as much money bc they could fix the tip themselves I can save on sending it back

Usually it is no worth sending back, with the price of shipping both ways + up to 8 weeks , but there are exceptions and this may be one. Scales are not overly important but blade edge can be. If you send it back they can fix the tip and put a factory edge on it. I think it would sell better after the spa in this case, but it is always a gamble as to price.
If it is lacking paperwork or box that can also affect price, and be helped with the trip.
It is a tough call, for even with spa treatment that blade shows decent wear. tumbling the blade is another $30
If you decide to send it in, you might start by sending them the photos. They can then confirm they will actually do all the work you might be hoping for, rather then just taking an expensive round trip.

Pretty sure that tumbling and reprofiling the blade won't take off the knicks where the grind starts. Also, there appears to be corrosion on the blade near the lug and on the belly? The scales look absolutely fine for a user though.

I would forego the spa and just price it accordingly. The question I have is whether or not CRK would even try to reprofile it or insist on a new blade.

My opinion...

Send it in, have them fix it for you, and keep it as your spare. When you see the price you will get offered on one in such a condition with the current market, you are probably not going to be impressed. Unless you found this one in the parking lot. My previous statement was based on you having been the original owner.

no corrosion, just dirty ha

The blade itself is incredibly sharp, much sharper than when I got it. I use the sharpmaker on it ever couple weeks or so. hair shaving sharp
the tip though is not sharp

I am original owner and I have box and paperwork and cloth and birth certificate

In your situation i would consider sending your knife to forum member & service provider Razor Edge Knives.
He lives in SC just like you, so turn-around time would most likely be faster than sending it to CRK.
Josh can put a nice new edge on it for you and/or do a regrind and/or some necessary TLC, and there's a good chance you won't want to sell the knife at all afterwards,

Just a thought, :)

he is a good guy, I talked to him once about some kitchen knives I have. forgot all about him

I am def selling it. I love it and it is an amazing knife. I just am using something diff right now and I am a minimalist so do not like to own things I am not using regularly. one day I will buy another Chris Reeve but will be a diff model. I like to mix things up and not hold onto things very long either

I just sent one in to CRK last Tuesday I believe for double lugs and asked them to sharpen it since it was there, I got a call 2 days ago letting me know it was shipping back to me via UPS yesterday, not a bad turnaround time plus they couldn't have been nicer.

Yeah, but that still looks like a chip in the blade, hence me questioning whether or not CRK would even bothering reprofiling it. Good luck with sale either way.

No chip anywhere but there is a scrape at the top on one side

That's not bad at all.

That is incredibly fast. Mine have all taken every bit of the 8 weeks.
